Join Councilmember John Lee and Commissioner Dora Quach for a virtual reception to kick-off and celebrate Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month and AAPI LA.
We will also recognize inspiring leaders who elevate the AAPI community through their work and activism.
For one night only, RiceBox is hosting a mahjong gathering to embrace our Asian heritage and culture. Join us on Saturday May 14th and enjoy a night of mahjong (each table will be playing with our RiceBox custom personalized mahjong sets), new RiceBox dishes, amazing @drinkvervet cocktails (must be +21), and delicious @go_cakes fruit tea and desserts. In honor of AAPI Heritage Month, join A+ and the Office of Councilmember Nithya Raman for an afternoon outdoors full of community, music from DJ Cynthia Strahan, food, a #dropchallenge with Atsuko Okatsuka, and an energizing and an empowering free outdoor self-protection class. Together, we’ll move with one another, celebrate our strength, and finally enjoy being in person after a challenging and isolating two years. This event is open to all

Join us for Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month Movie Screening! This year we will screen the Asian featured movie named ‘The Farewell’. This uplifting film is written and directed by Lulu Wang, the story of a Chinese family discovering their grandmother has only a short while left to live and decides to keep her in the dark, scheduling a wedding to gather before she dies.
We will host a Q & A discussing ‘Diversity in Hollywood: AAPI Representation, Behind-the-Scenes’ followed by the screening. There will be a one-hour reception before the screening, and food & beverage will be served. RSVP here
